About mes are interesting to write. How do I brag about myself while making it seem as humble as possible? What would you like to know about me?
I started my original Bad Shakespeare Blog to chronicle my adventures in returning to school to become a teacher. I spent almost ten years trying to figure out what I wanted to do, and at the time, teaching seemed like the most natural career. I like working with people, I like learning, I like teaching. The teaching part didn’t work out so well, but I did find myself with a love of learning, and a newfound distain for that weird smell that comes from the cafeteria.
In the intervening years, I’ve worked on finding myself, and where I belong. Ultimately I think I’ve found that I don’t quite belong anywhere, and that’s a good thing. I’ve been through many other careers, eventually landing on academic advising with a dash of teaching, which seems to be the perfect balance. In that time, I’ve wondered what I’ve wanted this blog to be: a chronicle of… something. I know I enjoyed writing it. I enjoyed using it as a platform for people during the COVID-Lockdowns to write something, and see their names in print.
For now, I’ve decided to use it as a reflection of me, and my new journey to do find that something. I enjoy writing, and I enjoy putting those thoughts into words. I enjoy writing speculative fiction, comedy, and just things that bring joy to people’s lives. So I play to use this platform to continue to write, share my thoughts, as well as showcase my recent journey into getting published. So far, I’ve been published in Cracked, Points in Case, and in Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine.
Thank you for being here.
